Shinto is a unique and very Japanese-centric religion. I originally studied Shinto in-depth in 2005 just prior to writing this paper. Of all the papers I have ever shared publically, this one generated the most enthusiasm. I have had a few people from different parts of the world tell me by email and in person that this paper helped them understand Shinto better, so I am sharing it here on my new website. My prayer is that it would help create a starting point for a bridge of understanding for the Gospel to cross. What do you think? Sign up for this forum and leave a comment.

I originally did most of the research for this article in 2004 and then edited it slightly in 2007. So this might be a little behind the times as we enter 2010. But most of what I wrote in 2004 still applies today - almost 6 years later. I have edited this article to be more concise and if you have taken the time to read it I'd love to hear what you think. I am especially hoping to hear from others who feel a burden to reach the youth of Japan with the Gospel.
